Engineer (IoT/Hardware)
We are looking for a hands-on "Master Builder" to lead the design and development of the custom in-vehicle hardware at the heart of our next-generation mobility platform. This is a foundational, equity-heavy role that requires ownership of the entire embedded system lifecycle, from architectural design and schematic capture through to production-ready firmware.
What You’ll Do

Hardware Architecture: Architect the complete hardware system. You will own the component selection, design the detailed electrical schematic, and oversee the multi-layer PCB layout process (working with specialists as needed) through to prototyping.

Firmware Development: Architect and develop robust, real-time firmware in C/C++ on the ESP32-S3 platform, utilizing the ESP-IDF and FreeRTOS to create a power-efficient and highly reliable system.

Sensor Integration: Develop drivers for and integrate our core sensor suite, including geolocation (GPS), inertial (IMU), and auditory (Microphone) sensors, ensuring the capture of high-fidelity data.

Connectivity & Security: Implement power-efficient and secure communication protocols (e.g., MQTT over TLS) for data transmission between the TIGER-TAG and our AWS/GCP cloud backend.

Design for Scale: Architect the hardware and firmware for mass production, contribute to component supply chain management, and build a secure and reliable Firmware-Over-the-Air (FOTA) update system.

Board Bring-Up & Validation: Own the hands-on assembly, debugging, and validation of the initial hardware prototypes. You will be the one to make the first device come to life.
Who You Are

A seasoned embedded systems engineer with a proven history of taking complex, commercial hardware products from concept to market.

Obsessed with clean, robust code and elegant, efficient hardware design. You understand the deep synergy between firmware and the underlying hardware.

Comfortable operating as a "one-person army" in the early stages of a startup, capable of both high-level architectural decisions and deep, hands-on debugging.

A proven builder who is energized by complex, multi-sensor technical challenges and the opportunity to build a product from a clean slate.

Deeply experienced with the ESP32 ecosystem (specifically ESP-IDF) and RTOS environments.
